"Oh, shit!" I blurted, fumbling with my crutches and my purse, knowing my only hope was to make a quick escape to the bathroom.

Veronica seemed to find the whole situation vastly amusing, and did nothing but laugh at me as I tried

to hobble quickly away from the table. Let me tell you that maneuvering on uneven crutches through

a very active dance crowd was no easy task. Needless to say, I didn't make it very far.
